Update on Olivia

Thank you so much for your concern, notes, and prayers for Olivia. It was so wonderful to read all your comments and notes. I really appreciate it. It has been a long week and we are pretty tired, but everyone is doing well.

Olivia is back to her normal self today, which was great to see. The seizure took a lot out of her and it has taken her awhile to bounce back.

Here is Olivia wired up for her EEG. And, yes, I look totally exhausted. Because I am. :) This was a sleep deprivation EEG so we could only let her sleep 4 hours the night before (from midnight to 4am). We were all pretty tired!

Now we wait. We are in the midst of tests and appointments to try to determine exactly what is going on. If you know anything about seizures, you know that there are quite a few possibilities and it isn’t always easy to figure out.

We will keep watching her for more seizures as we wait for tests and results. Thanks for praying that we figure out what is going on. When we know something, I will update you.

Comments

  1. Praying. Very tiring and emotionally draining! May God keep carrying you each day.

  2. Continuing to pray. :(

  3. Want to get back to your e-mail real soon but commenting here for now. Thanks for the update! We’re right there with you in this journey of uncertainty with seizures, watching, waiting, praying.

When we were at the beginning of our journey, I remember feeling like life would never be the same again when we were in the hospital, going through tests, etc. Now, as we approach our 2 month follow-up visit with the neurologist, life feels “normal” again, though I realize that could change any moment. Obviously the Lord’s plan plays out differently for everyone, but I just share that because I know how raw my nerves were from all the stress, trauma and sleep deprivation. In addition to our faith-based hope, sometimes just the realization that things will not always look the way they do now is helpful.

Praying for peace, strength, wisdom, and answers for you all!

    • Thank you, Kristen! It is already starting to feel more normal again (besides the tests, appointments, and wondering if she is going to have another one, etc…). Now that she is feeling better and acting normal it seems much better.

  4. Thanks for the update. We’ll keep praying for all of you.

  5. Continuing to pray for all!

  6. Thanks for letting us know how she is doing. Now, it’s time for her mommy to get some rest. Love you!

  7. Thanks for the update, sweet friend! Will continue praying. Love you all!

  8. Thanks for the update! Oh dear, only 4 hours of sleep. How do you ever keep a toddler awake that long?? It must have been so hard. I keep thinking of you while I go around my household chores, praying for added courage, strength, and peace of heart and mind for you and your family… Bisous!
